Closing Position Profit and Loss Calculation

In the previous tutorial video, we taught you how to buy or sell options contracts on OKX. In this video, we will teach you how to close positions and calculate closing losses.

Click "All Positions" and you will see the current position status of all option contracts in your account. Select the contract you want to close, such as "BTCUSD-20200327-6000-P", click "Quick Close" on the right, and a confirmation pop-up will appear, asking whether to close the position at the current limit order's lowest sell price. Click "Confirm" and you will place a limit order to close the position at the current limit order's lowest sell price.

If you feel that the quick close price is not the closing price you want, you can also place your own order to close the position. Here's how: Click on the contract to enter its simplified trading interface:

Go to "Current Positions", where the position details of that contract will be displayed below. On the far right, there is a quick close module. Here, enter the price and quantity you want to close the position at, and click close to immediately place a limit close order.

Of course, you can also close positions on the main simplified trading interface by entering the price and quantity. If your position direction is long, then when closing, you need to select sell; if your position direction is short, then when closing, you need to select buy.

How do you calculate the returns after closing a position? Using the example above, under Current Positions, you can see that the average opening price of this position is 0.0030 BTC, and the price at which you closed by selling is 0.0040 BTC. Therefore, the closing returns are (0.004 - 0.003) * 0.1 * 2 = 0.0002 BTC. That is, the returns from selling to close = (closing price - opening price) * contract multiplier * number of contracts; accordingly, the returns from buying to close = (opening price - closing price) * contract multiplier * number of contracts.

Once the close order is filled, you can see the transaction amount and trading fees for this trade in the contract bill.

Part 5: Strategic Trading Series — Coin Savings Plan

Preface: We often have such speculation: During a bull market, there are many digital assets that surge in value. Of course, this is also an almost impossible feat to accomplish, because it is difficult to continuously catch coins that surge in value. This is also a common problem many users encounter: During a bull market, although
