Mark Price/Index Price/Order Price

1) Mark Price

To enhance contract market stability and reduce unnecessary liquidations during abnormal market fluctuations, we use the mark price to calculate users' unrealized P&L.

Mark Price = Spot Index Price + Basis Moving Average

Basis Moving Average = Moving Average (Contract Mid Price – Spot Index Price) = Moving Average ((Contract Best Ask Price + Contract Best Bid Price) / 2 – Spot Index Price)

The mark price takes into account both the spot index price and the moving average of the basis. The moving average mechanism smooths and filters short-term contract price fluctuations, reducing unnecessary liquidations caused by abnormal volatility.

2) Index Price

Coin-margined contracts use the USD index of the corresponding underlying asset. To ensure the spot index price reasonably reflects the fair spot market price of each cryptocurrency, we select 3 or more mainstream trading venues' trading pairs as index weight components for each contract currency, and design abnormal processing logic to ensure that when a single trading venue's price deviates significantly, the index fluctuation remains within a normal range.

Spot Index Price Calculation Logic:
a. Real-time acquisition of the latest transaction price and volume of all index component trading venue trading pairs for that currency
b. Trading venues under maintenance or with no updates to the latest transaction price and volume for a period of time are marked as invalid and do not participate in this calculation
c. Trading pairs priced in BTC are multiplied by the OKX BTC USD index to convert to USD price
d. Determine how many valid trading venues remain:

= 3 venues: Weight valid trading venue data equally (if a trading venue's price deviates more than 3% from the median of all trading venues' prices, that trading venue's price is calculated as median * 0.97 or median * 1.03)
= 2 venues: Weight valid trading venue data equally
= 1 venue: Directly use the remaining valid trading venue's price as the Index Price

3) Order Price

In limit orders and other trading order strategies, traders need to specify the buy or sell price for the trading order when placing it. The order will only be executed when the market price meets the order price, and this price is the order price.

Maker/Taker

Maker orders, also known as makers, refer to operations that provide liquidity to the market in order book-based trading. Taker orders, also known as takers, refer to operations that extract liquidity from the market in order book-based trading. Since maker and taker orders have opposite effects on market liquidity, most trading platforms apply different fee structures for maker and taker trading. Generally, the maker fee rate is lower than the taker fee rate. Click to View

Margin Ratio

What is the margin ratio? The margin ratio is an important indicator for measuring account risk status, widely used in leveraged trading, options, perpetual contracts, and other trading activities. It is used to determine whether the account can support current positions and helps traders reduce liquidation risk. If the margin ratio falls below the threshold set by the platform, it may trigger the liquidation mechanism to protect traders' and platform assets. Margin ratio calculation formula: Margin Ratio = (Full balance of this currency + Full position returns

Funding Fee

To ensure that perpetual contract prices reflect changes in the underlying trading market, exchanges have established a funding fee mechanism. This mechanism facilitates regular cash flow exchanges between long and short position holders, causing perpetual contract prices to converge toward the index price. When the funding rate is positive, long position holders pay funding fees to short position holders; conversely, when the funding rate is negative, short position holders pay funding fees to long position holders. Note that the platform only facilitates exchanges between long and short

Slippage

Slippage generally refers to the deviation between the actual execution price and the preset execution price. This deviation usually moves in a direction unfavorable to the trader, resulting in additional trading losses. It mainly occurs in entry and stop-loss operations, but not in exits after profitable trades. When prices rise rapidly, investors hoping to enter promptly to follow the market's upward direction cause many orders to crowd on the long side, while counterparties are reluctant to sell and will not easily go short or

Options Contracts

Simple Trading/Professional Trading Options are a right that can be exercised at a future time. After purchasing an option, if exercising the right at expiration is favorable to the buyer, the buyer will obtain corresponding income through exercise, and the seller needs to cooperate with the buyer's exercise by making corresponding payments. If exercising the right at expiration is unfavorable to the buyer, the buyer may choose not to exercise, and the seller also does not need to cooperate with the exercise by making corresponding payments. OKX provides options with Bitcoin (BTC) and Ethereum (ETH) as underlying assets
